Even though the Toronto property market is at the top place, the hottest zone for price hikes remains beyond the city. Those are the neighbouring rural regions, particularly an hour more than distant. Consequently, the shift from Toronto homeowners to country gentlefolk is becoming increasingly difficult.
If one wants to discover a piece of rural heaven in the Durham Region, they will almost certainly be battling with a slew of other Torontonians.

As per Odeen Eccleston, a well-known and well-respected personality in Ontario real estate, the city dwellers aspire for green fields, very few neighbours, more homes and far more ground to consider their primary house.
Confirming the most recent analysis from the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board, some regions are witnessing the biggest price gain. Those locations are near Orangeville as well as in Bowmanville's east. People are seeking more than simply that picture-perfect country residence. They're also on the lookout for having land on which they can build their own house.
According to Eccleston, developable sites that used to remain on the marketplace for a long time are trading quickly. Moreover, those are selling after several bids.
Therefore, Post City checked in with Eccleston to help identify five neighbourhoods that are excellent alternatives for people who aren't trying to purchase from the top of the competition.
Those rural regions are:
- Brock
It is at the eastern shores of Lake Simcoe. Brock is receiving much interest, which is driving up prices. However, because the location is far away from Toronto, there is still significant property value, particularly for individuals looking to get outside the city and move northeast.
The settlements of Cannington, Sunderland and Beaverton are extremely impressive, although there are also some beautiful places of farmland.
- Cobourg
At 104 kilometres, this ancient and picturesque tiny village seems to be quite at a distance in the eastern side of the region. Cobourg is on Lake Ontario. It features a beautiful waterfront area and a lively core city and arts scenario.
It is frequently considered among the state's prettiest small towns. There are also some beautiful rural landscapes encircling the region.
- Pelham
Recently, Niagara-on-the-Lake has become one of the trendiest property locales, and so has St. Catharines. Thus, the Niagara Area is surely attracting a lot of interest. This land is best famed as Ontario's largest wine region.
Pelham is a small community situated outside of Welland. Undulating hills, meandering brook, and proximity to a multitude of beautiful open spaces and parks characterize this charming neighbourhood.
- Colborne
Colborne is located in Toronto’s east in Northumberland Province, extending right until the Prince Edward shire roadblock. This charming rural town has a large main street and beautiful ancient architecture.
- Paris
Certainly, Hamilton was once the spot to go if someone wanted a cheap home in the city. Well, the trend is not prevailing anymore. The picture-perfect tiny village of Paris, just afar Hamilton, attracts attention because of its medieval and attractive city center. It is flanked by the Grand River and encircled by the agricultural central land area.
Additionally, the Hammer is only 10 minutes away. The value of homes in this area is increasing, but they are still reasonable by Toronto norms.
